Raptor® Limited Reviews

Raptor Limited is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mower for the money My Raptor limited was bought back close to the beginning of this cutting season, and has made mowing a joy instead of a dread. Love the Kawasaki engine, wide rear tires, and armrest you get with the limited. This engine is quiet, great traction with the tires, and a very comfortable seat. I added an aftermarket spring suspension that is a bolt on that moved the ride from good to great. Just wish is had taller tires to make the ride even better, but that normally comes with the higher end mowers, no matter what brand you choose. Great folks to work with so far, nice to be able to test drive and get extra info before a purchase, I will go back with any future needs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Mower, But I have less than 5 hours on a brand new Raptor Limited. This is the perfect mower for the large, steep hill we have for a back yard. The first couple times I mowed, the yard looked good. Then I started noticing the mower was leaving stripes in the yard. At first I thought that maybe one of the blades wasn't cutting, so I checked them first. While looking at the blades, I noticed the deck was nearly an inch off level. The discharge side sits significantly higher, causing the striping in the yard. I adjusted the deck per the owner's manual, this made almost zero adjustment. I would make sure the deck is level before buying another Hustler. This deck is nearly an inch off square, and take a significant amount of weight to get it level.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good engine and heavy duty deck 52" Raptor Limited Bought last summer. Love the mower... BUT.. disappointed in the grass blow out exit not being heavy duty like the rest of the deck. Also very disappointed in that the deck is held up by two small bolts. I have to replace them very often or tighten them in order to have a level cut. Dealer said to swap out Hustler nuts for lock nuts to keep from backing out. The deck is so heavy that after time the bolts tend to bend. IF I had know this, I would have went up a deck size that is much more sturdy. Would like to see a more adjustable seat.. I am 6'6" tall, so that is hard to find in any kind of mower.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as expected I have had this mower for a little over two years. At the end of the first year, the mower would have issues engaging. I sent it to the dealer service department. They returned it to me. It was covered by the warranty. I am having issues again with the mower engagement. I just received the mower back with a huge bill. I was told that parts were covered but labor was not. The same day I received the mower I tried to mow the lawn and it didn't make it 40 yards before it cut out again. It is back at the dealer again. I will probably have to pull more money out of my pocket. This seems to be a continuous problem that the dealer can't find and I'm now stuck with what seems to be a costly decision. I had done quite a bit of research and had recommendations to choose this mower. Guess I didn't do enough research?

How often should I change the oil or transmission fluid and should I drain the fluids in the winter?

Asked by: Cheldy1973
Hi Cheldy, all of this information is found in your owners manual. If you have lost your manual and need a new one, you can go to our website,, Support, Manual and find yours. Section 4-2 of your manual identifies your transmissions and sealed for life, and do not require any scheduled maintenance. You cannot drain/change this oil. Page 6-1 discussed how to winterize your mower. We recommend changing your oil at the end of each season and replacing it with clean oil for the winter.

I am a big person and am concerned about whether or not there is enough room between my body and the steering arms to use reverse?

Asked by: Sherm
You need to see for yourself. Visit your nearest dealer & try one out! Too me it seems there is enough room but you really need to test drive the raptor. Mine cuts great & the dealership in Villa Ridge MO where I purchased is great. The personal are very professional, helpful & friendly.

what is stripe feature and how is larger tires better and does larger tire affect the grass better on turns

Asked by: kirby
The striper is a rubber strip that aligns the clippings in one direction so that the lawn looks different depending on which direction the mower was moving when the cutting occured. The cut strips alternate to lighter and darker shades of green.

Is the Limited not offered in 2018? A dealer told me the 2018 Raptor has the engine guard and better seat, no longer a Limited in the lineup.

Asked by: Dave B.
I bought a 2018 captor limited in April 2018. Only mowed once because the grass isn't growing much right now. Powerful engine cut great and rides smooth. My old lawn tractor it took one and a half hours my captor cut my yard in 35 minutes my first time using a zero turn

Just bought the Raptor limited under the advice of the sales person no problem at all they said. I have 3 acres. I get home and the brochure says up to an acre. Is anyone cutting more than an acre with this mower.....closer to 3.

Asked by: Rich70

Is there still a problem with the pullies coming apart on the deck. And I heard the bolts that holds the deck on are weak and get loose. I was thinking about buying one of these mowers but have seen there has been problems with these issues.
